Awards & Nominations

We’re making all the right noises with nominations for some of the UK’s biggest awards for services to #learning #education and #edtech. We’re flattered and delighted to be shortlisted. We’ve even some!

Meet the Founders

With decades of experience in education and regular interactions with educators, schools and colleges all over the world, our team at Spongy Elephant are passionate about learning and the positive impact it can have the lives of young people, young adults, their families and communities.

As “the” destination for e-learning, training and professional development we are about giving learners and educators the tools to make every engagement a transformational one. So, who are we?

Hey, I'm Sonny...

Teaching & Education

Got a Masters from UMIST in Technology Management.

PGCE from University of Leeds and started teaching in 1995.

I was Assistant Head for ICT at the super futuristic and multi-award winning Djanogly City Academy Nottingham.

What Else?

After a few years in corporate and BSF (oh my!) I set up New Ways to Learn to get teachers transforming with edtech and to date we’ve trained well over 20000 teachers in the art of the possible with technology in education with 98% excellent rating.

Why Spongy Elephant?

Spongy Elephant is my way of taking training to the next level to be wholly inclusive and totally disruptive. Traditional face to face training will live on, but it can be significantly better.

It is time for change.

Hi, I'm David...

David Paice

Teaching & Education

Got an MBA from the University of Leicester.

PGCE from University of London and started teaching in 1993.

I was a senior leader in schools and I have taught and managed schools  across the UK as well as internationally.

What Else?

In addition to working with schools and communities as a Director of Education and Skills, I’ve also led on and delivered massive projects for guys like Capita, Kier, Babcock and Serco with both an education and ICT hat on.

Why Spongy Elephant?

Spongy Elephant amplifies best practice and gets teachers up to speed fast. Research is emphatic. Great teachers have an outstanding effect on pupils learning.

It is time for change.

I first heard Sanjesh talk at a workshop at Innovative Learning in London 2012. His passion for the use of technology in learning is infectious. He impressed, packed a punch, opened eyes, and motivated my colleagues, and they are still talking about him weeks after.

Meet Enkesha - She's one of the Team!

On a recent trip to Kenya, Sonny visited an Elephant Orphange, The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Nairobi. While there he met Enkesha and instantly connected. Enkesha has a really hard time and is now looked after by the amazing team of rangers and carers at the Trust. She is now a member of the Spongy Elephant family and we get regular updates on how she is getting on, alongside the other orphans, and also on how her development towards being returned back to the wild is going. If you’re interested in finding out more or want to adopt an elephant at the Trust, please get in touch and we’ll match your donation. Happy to help! 🙂
